Meet the cheetahs

Cambazola

Cambazola

Cambazola was born in January 1998, making her now well over 10 years old. Cambazola is the daughter of Camembert, a beautiful cheetah who was very well known to the cheetah research team. Sadly, in October 2002 Camembert was killed, most likely by a lion at Maasai kopjes. She was only 9 years old at the time of her death. Fortunately her legacy lives on through Cambazola, the only survivor of a litter of three sisters and one brother – Cambazola, Gorgonzola, Mozarella and Brie. Cambazola has so far only managed to raise one cub to independence, a grumpy male cub who was born in July 2001, and who is now independent. Cambazola has had 2 litters since then, one in 2003 and another in 2007 but unfortunately none of these cubs survived to become independent. She was last seen on her own at Maasai kopjes in May 2008.

Cambazola was last seen in October 2008.
