Aart & Nils
Aart & Nils are two brothers that reached independence in mid 2007. Their mother Madeline is often found in the Ndutu area, where the two boys grew up. Since independence, however, they are often seen around West Simba kopjes, Longelanyi, and the Rongai area in the dry season. During the 2008 wet season the young boys dropped off the radar and neither was seen after July 2008 until Nils was spotted in the Longelanye area in July 2010. Unfortunately he was without his brother Aart, who has probably died, and although he was suffering from mange he was otherwise looking well. We were all delighted to see him again; it is very unusual for a cheetah to reappear after being gone for such a long time!
Aart was last seen in July 2008.
Nils was last seen in July 2010.
