Meet the cheetahs
Maurus & Jerome
Maurus & Jerome are two brothers, born from Amarula in Mid 2002. At eight years of age, the two brothers have proved very capable at holding territories. In the dry season they hold a territory at Simba Kopjes, and during the wet season when the gazelles dominate the short grass plains, Maurus and Jerome follow the gazelle migration and become territorial at Gol Kopjes. The strength of the boys was put to the test in February 2008 when Pinenut, the male cub of Pecan, stumbled into their territory. Photographs sent to the Cheetah Watch campaign show that the two boys challenged Pinenut to a brutal fight which ended in his death. The boys are still territorial and have most recently been seen around Gol, Cub valley and Naabi.
Maurus was last seen in July 2010.
Jerome was last seen in July 2010.
