Meet the cheetahs

Loopy Lou

Loopy Lou

Loopy Lou is a middle aged cheetah that is often seen in the Ndutu area.  She has been one of the most successful mothers known to the project. Her first litter comprised two female cubs, which she raised to independence, known to us as Kate and Emily. In her second litter she started out with 3 cubs which eventually became 4 cubs. During the time that Loopy Lou had adopted a cub and Kate, her female cub from her previous litter, had lost a cub. With the help of the cheetah matching program, we soon learned that Loopy Lou had adopted one of Kate's cubs! Loopy Lou was successful in raising her 3 cubs and one adopted cub to independence. In April 2009 she introduced us to her third litter, of which one female has survived.

Loopy Lou was last seen in December 2009.
